Visit Sternsinger Wetzlar: A sign of hope for children!

On January 6, 2025, the star singers of the Catholic parish "Our dear wife" Wetzlar visited the district house in Wetzlar. The group consisted of four children and adolescents who performed poems and songs on the history of the birth of Jesus and the Three Kings. District Administrator Carsten Braun warmly welcomed the star singers and presented them with a donation. Braun expressed his thanks for the visit and the use of the star singers for a fairer world.

The Sternsinger placed the blessing "20*C+M+B*25" at the district house. The letter code stands for the Latin saying "Christus Mansionem Benedicat", which means something like "Christ bless this house". The campaign of the Sternsinger is initiated annually by the children's mission plant, in which children collect donations for aid projects for children in third world countries. This year the donations go to Kenya and Colombia.

aid projects in Kenya and Colombia

In the Turkana region in Kenya, children have little access to schools and medical care. The partner organization of the children's mission works is committed to health, nutrition and education for these children on site. In Colombia, the project partners are committed to protection, education and participation, including programs for peace education and participation.

The Dreikönigssingen campaign annually sets a thematic focus with an unprecedented country and a motto to get to know the life situation of children in a specific country. Collected donations are used not only for aid projects in the underground country, but also worldwide. Some parishes want to support specific projects in order to increase motivation and willingness to donate, such as sternsinger.de reported.

parishes can suggest their own project ideas, which are stimulated by diocesan partnerships, one-world circles, guest priests and other initiatives. Independently selected projects must meet the approval criteria of the award commission that meets four times a year to decide on the approval of new projects.
