Musical development for children: New orchestra in Gelnhausen!
The Gelnhausen Orchestra Kunterbunt for children goes into the second round in 2025. Under the direction of Sonja Schubert and Eva Wagner, the ensemble of the Main-Kinzig music school offers an ideal platform for young music-loving talents. The project is aimed at all children who have already gained initial experience in instrumental lessons and dream of their musical career.
The first meeting of the orchestra will take place on Saturday, January 25th, at 10 a.m. in the cafeteria of the Philipp-Reischule Gelnhausen. Children are cordially invited to bring their own or a borrowed instrument with them. There are also rhythm and impact instruments available for the small musicians. The meetings take place once a month and aim to enable a first and elementary interaction in the group.
Details for participation
Participation in the Kunterbunt orchestra is open to all children and there are no restrictions on the selection of the instruments. Interested parents can contact the office of the Main-Kinzig music school in Leipziger Str. 72 in Gelnhausen or send an email to info@mkk-musik.de . The monthly contribution to participation is 11.50 euros.
musical activities in the region
In addition to the activities of the orchestra, the Main-Kinzig music school organized a musical Christmas market as part of the Gelnhausen Christmas market. This event took place in the former synagogue in Gelnhausen and was well attended. Many musicians from the music school organized in the Association of German Music Schools (VDM), accompanied a singing together, in which no previous knowledge was necessary and in particular the focus was on popular songs.
Visitors had the opportunity to spontaneously participate in the open singing. On Sunday there was a presentation of "Lara and Tom", in which a Christmas puzzle, chamber music works and a jazz band were part of the program. Harry Wenz read Christmas stories and rounded off the diverse offer. The audience of children, adolescents and adults was enthusiastic and after the event filled the donation baskets for the music school.
The importance of early music training
The early promotion of children in music is of great importance. Musical activities are already carried out in kindergarten that arouse interest in melodies and singing. In addition, it is important that the desire to learn an instrument goes from the child himself without pressure from the parents. Parents should be accompanied by the choice of an instrument and a visit to a local music school and find out about the possibilities of the music school.
clarifying questions, such as the child's interest in music or the choice of the instrument, are crucial before registration takes place. The possibility of a trial period for teaching and borrowing an instrument can also help to arouse or confirm the child's interest. The interaction with the same age in group lessons not only promotes musical skills, but also strengthens social contacts.
