New residential area in Hanau: Large project planned for 1,400 apartments!

The new "Main-Au-Quartier" residential area is formed in Hanau-Großauheim. The project, which is realized on the former Bautz site, was inactive for a long time, but received a new impetus due to the challenges of the Ukraine War. The construction of the new residential complex, which is planned by Buwog Bauträger GmbH from Berlin, is an important step in the urban development of the region.

From 2023 the preparatory construction work will be recorded. These include the dismantling of non -preserved barracks, the soil renovation and the evacuation of fighting. The first visible construction work in the "Main-Au district" should then begin at the end of 2026. A total of 1,400 apartments are planned on an area of 13.9 hectares. 20 percent of these apartments are intended as a subsidized living space to support social housing.

Details about the project

An additional highlight of the district will be a daycare center with 140 seats, which is not only important for future residents, but is also intended to enrich the infrastructure of the district. The magistrate of the city of Hanau has already approved the urban planning contract and the development plan. The plans for the project will be presented in a meeting on February 4, 2025 before the city council makes a decision.

In addition to the creation of living space, the new quarters are to be revived by trade and gastronomy. The balance of the past remains dark, but the city now sees itself in a positive development process with an increasing population and a growing number of jobs.
