Insolvency drama: Domino hairdresser before closing! Rescue approaches?

The hairdressing chain Domino Friseur & Shop GmbH has again filed for bankruptcy and the bankruptcy proceedings were opened on April 1, 2025. This is the second bankruptcy within two years after the company was already in trouble in April 2023. The provisional insolvency consultant Dr. Michael Lojowski from the law firm Brickmann & Partner is again commissioned to administration the bankruptcy.

In January 2023, the chain still successfully operated salons in Marburg, Wehrda, Kirchhain, Biedenkopf, Weilburg and Fritzlar, with a total of 50 employees and eight trainees. But the situation has intensified. The salon in the Marburg Hercules Center was closed in March 2025. The branches are currently facing the closure in Fritzlar, Biedenkopf and Wehrda, provided that there are no new operators by the end of June 2025. Two other salons in Kirchhain and Weilburg have been successfully transferred to new operators and are no longer part of the bankruptcy estate.

The further steps in the bankruptcy proceedings

A believer meeting is scheduled for April 30, 2025 to advise on the further procedure. This meeting will be crucial for the future of the salons that are still operated. If no buyer for the remaining salons is found by July 30, 2025, they must be finally closed. The residual equipment of the closed salons is sold to bring the proceeds into the bankruptcy mass and pay off the creditors.

The repetition bankruptcy comes for the company in a particularly tense time. The challenges of the market, the increased competition and the ongoing economic difficulties through pandemic have led to a dramatic decline in customer frequency in recent years. This is also reflected in the closure of the salon in the Hercules Center, which was carried out in March 2025.

The situation makes it clear how precarious the situation is for many companies in the industry. It remains to be seen whether Domino Friseur & Shop GmbH is able to reorganize and possibly do an U -turn to avoid further branch closures.
