Concert in Gießen: Fogel F plays melancholic anti-capitalist folk!

On Saturday, January 11, 2025, a remarkable concert by the Gießen group Fogel F took place in the Vitos chapel. This performance marked the 375th concert in the traditional "Music at Vitos" series, which has been taking place regularly for 17 years now. The venue is the Vitos chapel at Licher Straße 106 in Gießen, where admission is always free of charge.

The band leader and singer Konstantin Pukownik had a line of the evening. Next to him, the talented musicians Jan Biedenkopf performed on the clarinet, Rafael de la Vega on the saxophone, Julian Briant on the bass and Nataliia Sadovska on the violin. Pukownik impressed the audience with his skills as a multi -instrumentalist by playing the piano and trumpet at the same time.

artistic concept and reception

The concert began with the play "Night", which convinced with its versatile arrangements. The band defined their repertoire as a "biodegradable anti-capitalist folk". While the texts of the evening were described as intelligent and well thought out, the emotional connection to the audience remained below expectations. The title of "beer" thematized global social problems, but was unbalanced - here the piano was too loud, while the voice of Pukowiks remained indistinct.

The musical unity of the performance also left a lot to be desired, which had a negative impact on the general mood in the hall. The few people present honored the performance with only scarce applause. In particular, the piece "Sausage", which was described as an original composition over a world improver with French accordion sounds, was able to stand out positively. The homage "children" on the prominent Austrian cabaret artists Georg Kreisler was also well received.
