Waldschule Stadtallendorf: Historical signs are saved!
In Stadtallendorf, historical signs have been kept at the forest school for decades, which are now to be restored. The city and history association of the city, together with primary school II, has tried to preserve these important contemporary witnesses. Herbert Köller, chairman of the association, was enthusiastic about the signs, in particular a plaque that is reminiscent of the foundation of the forest school in 1951. On this table there is the meaning "not for school, we learn for life".
The building of the forest school, which formerly served as the social building of the Dynamit Aktiengesellschaft, was rebuilt under Mayor Alfons Schmitt, who was then mayor in Katholisch-Allendorf. Stadtallendorf received city rights in 1960. Before the foundation of the forest school, there was only the North School in the 1940s and 1950s, which could not meet the need for schools. The plaque also bears the names of craftsmen, which gives an insight into city history. Another sign with the inscription "Waldschule" hung for a long time above the entrance of the old building.
restoration of the signs
Köller and the head of primary school II, Janette Grün, agree on the importance of maintaining the signs. A possible location for the signs could be in the foyer of the school's new development area. The Heimat- und History Association plans to have both signs restored and preserved.
The organizational structure of the schools in Stadtallendorf is also relevant for further context. The administration of primary school II and the forest school is located in the South School. The headmistress, Ms. Grün, as well as the other contacts, including the principal Ms. Herrmann and the secretary Ms. Fidan, can be reached by phone.
