New bike path from Dreieich to Neu-Isenburg: This is how it goes!
On January 7, 2025, extensive plans to improve the cycling infrastructure in the Neu-Isenburg region were presented. The cycle path from Dreieich to the Neu-Isenburg district boundary, which was already completed by Hessen Mobil in 2024, is supplemented by a new section that is currently being planned.
The section from Neuhöfer Straße to the Gravenbruchring is currently not yet continuous, which means that cyclists have to drive on the street in this area. The design planning for the new bike path was created at this point and noted by the city councils. The start of construction for the new section is scheduled for the end of 2026 or early 2027 at the earliest. The new cycle path will not only expand the regional cycle path network, but also offer a secure crossing area at the access to the leisure site Orplid and Wannabe.
positive feedback and planned measures
Franz Drews, the local chairman of the General German Bicycle Club, expressed a positive statement about the design, but criticized the supply from the west. A positive evaluation report on the traffic attempt between Offenbach and Neu-Isenburg confirms that the section remains along Offenbacher Strasse. The city is planning connection measures to the inner -city cycling network, which includes the eastern Offenbacher Straße, southern Friedhofstrasse and the northern Gravenbruchring.
For the planned measures, funding could be requested via the NOT MOBILITY Directive, which are provided with a funding rate of 70 percent. It is planned to seal around 2,200 square meters of road space and to plant it again. The future bike path will be 2.50 meters wide and will run on the west side of Offenbacher Straße, while the road is reduced by four to two traces. In addition, a barrier -free bus stop on Friedhofstrasse is created behind which the bike path is led.
The bike path will switch to the east side of Offenbacher Strasse behind the transfer via Autobahn 661 and thus enable a direct connection to the eastern industrial area. It is also planned to re -create the bike path to Neuhöfer Straße within the street parcel on the east side.
In another context, the city of Neu-Isenburg reported that the first planning phase for cycle paths along the L3313 (Offenbach, Neu-Isenburg, Dreieich) and L3117 (Heusenstamm, Gravenbruch, Neu-Isenburg) was completed. These plans are carried out in cooperation with Hessen Mobil. The next steps include draft, approval and execution. While the commissioning for the L3313 at Neu-Isenburg remains, Hessen Mobil will be responsible for the L3117. In addition, IMB Plan GmbH in Hanau was awarded for further planning services.on planning for the L3313 and the connection planning is used by an amount of 55,350 euros. The planned cycle path will connect to the traffic attempt at the Gravenbruchring in Offenbach. The course of the cycle path will lead to the interface with the L3117, then switch to the east side. In addition, a connection to Neuhöfer Straße to Dreieich with the implementation in 2024 is planned. Furthermore, an underpass with a spindle -shaped ramp is intended for crossing the motorway entrance.
In the coming years, the use of existing areas for cycle paths will also be foreseen, with some areas to be sealed. Adjustments to existing nodes and the barrier -free conversion of bus stops are also part of the planning. The city plans measures to connect the cycle paths to the inner-city foot and bike traffic network and have discussions with the cities of Offenbach and Dreieich to link with cycling fast paths.
The goal of this comprehensive planning is to make cycling in the Offenbach district more attractive for commuters and to offer an incentive to switch from the car to the bike. This should also make a contribution to climate protection and the traffic turnaround, such as Neu-isenburg.de and op-online.de
