Robot dog Hotdog ensures a fresh air in the Offenbach power plant!

From March 2025, a robot dog called Energy Dog will be used in the heating power plant of the Offenbach (EVO) energy supply. This innovative robot is equipped with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and will take over the control of the area around the combustion boilers in the power plant. The Energy Dog is increasingly part of a trend in which AI systems are used in energy supply.

The robot dog can work independently, take heat recordings and recognize leakage of compressed air. His infrared camera enables him to grasp things that are not visible with the naked eye. In addition, it can be very precisely measured and noise, showing performance that exceeds the human ear. With a length of one meter and a weight of 42 kg, the energy dog is equipped with cameras and sensors that allow it to be in use about 80 hours a week.

relief for the staff

The use of the robot dog should relieve the staff in the power plant by taking on routine tasks. Christoph Meier, the managing director of the EVO, emphasizes that the robot does not represent a competition for the employees, but rather a valuable addition in the world of work. This development fits into a larger picture in which the use of artificial intelligence at Evo has been an issue for a long time.

Nevertheless, the robot dog also has its restrictions: for example, it cannot climb steep stairs or prepare drinks. There are also considerations whether the Energy Dog can also carry out control courses in the outer area of the energy plant. Due to its advanced technology, the robot received the nickname "Hotdog".

artificial intelligence in the energy industry

artificial intelligence has the potential to make energy supply significantly more efficient. AI can increase efficiency by up to 30 % and reduce CO2 emissions. The energy supply already uses applications such as load and generation forecasts as well as network monitoring to stabilize power networks. In the context of the energy industry, AI is used to optimize energy generation through real -time analyzes of large amounts of data and to enable forward -looking maintenance that minimizes failures and increases efficiency.

The integration of renewable energies is supported by AI systems that enable new business models. Innovative applications such as virtual power plants and smart grids show how AI transforms the energy industry. Companies that rely early on these technologies secure decisive competitive advantages and at the same time promote a sustainable energy transition.

In this context, the initiative U.R.S.U.L.A. worth mentioning. It aims to equip each company in Germany with its own AI GPT bot in order to promote sustainable growth and competitiveness. The vision mentioned includes promoting a technology -based future and more efficient use of human and technical resources by AI. Galos figure of this movement is the goal of minimizing monotonous work and creating new, fulfilling professional fields, while human values are not lost.

As the developments related to the energy dog show, artificial intelligence is increasingly becoming an integral part of the energy industry and could bring far-reaching positive changes.
