New meeting room in the Wiesbaden judicial center opened: a milestone for the judiciary!

In Wiesbaden, a new meeting room was inaugurated in the judicial center, which was designed for great criminal proceedings. The construction, which was realized within just four months, symbolically stands for the efforts of a modern and efficient judiciary. The Minister of Justice of Hesse, Christian Heinz (CDU), and the President of the Regional Court, Cornelia Menhofer, presented the new hall, which offers space for up to 90 spectators on an area of 225 square meters. This innovation was of great importance, since since the center was opened in 2009 the need for a larger space for procedures with several accused, defenders and witnesses has been expressed.

The new meeting room was created by merging four smaller halls and a hallway and offers a total of 24 places for accused and its defenders. If necessary, this number can be expanded, so that other process participants such as the public prosecutor, co -plaintiffs and experts can also be accommodated. Particularly noteworthy is the direct access for the accused who can be led into the hall via access to the basement.

modern technology and paperless processes

An important aspect of the new meeting room is the support of paperless procedures through modern media technology. The hall is equipped with cameras that make it possible to display documents and media content via projectors. This content can also be saved in the electronic process files, which is intended to increase efficiency and traceability in court proceedings. Justice Minister Heinz emphasized the need for adequate equipment in the judiciary to ensure a quick and effective case law in Hesse.

The District Court Wiesbaden is responsible, among other things, for property matters and provides extracts from the land register. These are accessible during the service hours and can be viewed after making an appointment by telephone. The contact information can be found in the Justice Center, Mainzer Str. 124, 65189 Wiesbaden. This ensures efficient information and collection as part of the judiciary.

During Corona pandemic, numerous adjustments to the works of the dishes were made. Video conferences and online negotiations have gained in importance. According to Deutschlandfunk , video negotiations have quintupled in 2020, and almost every second judge now uses video technology. This development shows how much the digitization of the judiciary has been promoted and how important it is to continue to rely on modern technologies in the future.

Although the new meeting room in Wiesbaden is a step in the right direction, many challenges in the digitization of the judiciary have not yet been completed. The implementation of e-files and automated procedures continues to advance to improve the efficiency of the judiciary in Germany.
