New signpost system in the Taunus nature park: orientation made easy!
In the municipality of Brombach, new metal pathways for the Weiltalweg and the theme bike tour "Höhenluft" were recently installed. These signposts are strategically attached to the bottom of the official cycle path note signs in order to offer better orientation for those seeking relaxation. According to the Frankfurter Neue Presse this is part of a comprehensive project to modernize the signage in the Taunus. /> There are different ways in the nature park, each with different layouts and logos for hikers and cyclists. The aim of the new measures is to create uniform signals in order to avoid double signals. Currently, the changeover in the Hochtaunuskreis also leads to temporary double signs that will remain until the end of early summer 2025.
a milestone in the path marker
at the end of 2024 new path markings were also introduced in the Rheingau-Taunus district, which are characterized by orange-blue numbering. These new markings are also visible in the Hochtaunuskreis, for example on the Celtic Rundweg. The Rheingau-Taunus Nature Park describes these changes as milestone in the history of the park.
The initiative to improve the signage was started in October 2021 with the assembly of a new signpost system in two pilot areas. Overall, the main hiking trails and tourist nodes in the Taunus nature park are to be re -marked. The goal is to prevent abrasions in the forest and enable visitors better orientation.
hiking and cycling infrastructure in focus
The Taunus nature park extends over around 1200 kilometers of circular hiking trails, which are marked by colored animal and plant motifs. These paths are to be gradually signposted at their nodes in order to further improve the accessibility and experience of nature. The Taunus club is also active and marks many route hiking trails with colored geometric symbols.
In addition to the new signage, the Online tour planner of the Taunus Nature Park offers useful information for planning tours. Despite its benefit, the nature park indicates that it cannot accept any liability for the functionality of the planner and that the users should report possible defects directly to the provider.
For groups who want to enjoy nature, the youth campground "Kammerforst" is also available in Weilrod. This space offers space for up to 60 people and is particularly suitable for youth groups and families. It has modern sanitary facilities and a large fireplace that invites to common barbecues. In the area there are shops as well as offers for climbing adventures and water sports that attractively round off the leisure offer in the Taunus.
The initiative to improve hiking and cycling infrastructure is still being followed in order to make recovery in nature accessible and pleasant.
