Beate Theis: New boss of the Schwalm-Eder police department!

Beate Theis (59) took over the management of the Schwalm-Eder police department in Homberg on January 1, 2023. This police department includes the police stations in Fritzlar, Homberg, Melsungen and Schwalmstadt. Previously, Theis headed the North Directorate of the North of the Police Headquarters in Kassel-Referzehren. She started her career at the Hessian police in October 1985.

The inauguration of Beate Theis took place in the presence of the state police president Robert Schäfer and police chief Konrad Stelzenbach. The previous director, Hartmut Konze, who has headed the police department since January 2021, is moving to the Department of the Police Headquarters North Hesse in Kassel. District Administrator Winfried Becker emphasized the importance of cooperation between the police and the district and paid tribute to Hartmut Konze in the Schwalm-Eder district.

The new leadership tip

With the appointment of Beate Theis, two women are now represented in leading positions at the police in the district, since Silke Stippich also holds the management of the regional crime inspection. Beate Theis said that she is happy to see the challenges of her new job.

The Schwalm-Eder police department has more than 200 police officers and employees and worked on around 8,000 crimes and 3,400 traffic accidents every year. It extends over an area of 1,538 km² and comprises 11 cities and 16 municipalities, which makes the Schwalm-Eder district the second largest district in Hesse.

The road network in the district comprises 1,303 km, including 68.3 km motorways and 212.8 km federal roads. Important events in the district are the riding tournament in Spangenberg, the grass track races in Melsungen, the horse market in Fritzlar and the salad fair in Ziegenhain, such as hna.de reported.

The commitment of Beate Theis and her predecessor will therefore be crucial for future police work in the Schwalm-Eder district, while the police directorate continues to focus on close cooperation with the local authorities.
