Puppet show in the local museum: A look at Schotten's story!
In the Schottener Heimatmuseum, an outstanding collection of dolls is currently being presented, which was carved by the late Falkner Friedrich Falkner. This special exhibition is part of a comprehensive redesign of the museum, which was reopened in July 2021, after extensive renovation measures. The new exhibition was designed by the curators Kirsten Hauer and Friedhelm Krause and the designer Thomas Scheuermann. In doing so, you have put the history of the city of Schotten in a contemporary context that combines both informative and aesthetic aspects. FNP is reported that the local museum is housed in a building and later built in Art Nouveau was redesigned.
The exhibits on the first floor include original furnishings and everyday objects of the Weber-Pröscher family, who illustrate life in the Vogelsberg. Interestingly, the local museum was once the Dr. Karl Weber, a Hessian State Council and Forest Master. A comprehensive representation of city history, wood and forest management, as well as the Schotten forest school can be found on the second floor. Even the dark chapters of history during National Socialism are not neglected.
Expansion of the exhibition
A year ago, two new exhibition rooms were opened in the museum, which deals with the history of the motorsport club (MSC) and the historical Scottish ring from 1925 to 1956. In addition, two other rooms are planned, which will be dedicated to the tradition of the Falkner dolls and the history of the Schotten Wintermetzger. The puppet statue is not only an artistic representation, but also a testimony to the art of craftsmanship, since the clothes were sewn by Falkner's wife Ute.The Schotten Wintermetzger are famous for their sausage production, which was also valued beyond the region. Her sausage received a medal of merit at the world exhibition in Vienna in 1873. This rich gastronomic tradition will also be illuminated in the future exhibition. In addition, a small stage is installed to make it possible to offer performances and theater games, especially for children. An adjoining room in the museum also shows historical cuisine with a typical wood stove to illustrate the previous life in Vogelsberg.
