24 hours for the Lord: prayer and reconciliation in Deidesheim!

The Catholic Church of St. Ulrich in Deidesheim opens its doors for the global initiative "24 hours for the Lord" on March 28 and 29, 2025. This prayer campaign, which was launched by Pope Francis, offers believers the opportunity to experience reconciliation and silence before God. The parish of Saint Michael Deidesheim will take part in this important event for the second time this year.

Pastor Matthias Schmitt emphasizes the importance of pausing and the new beginnings in life. The event begins on Friday, March 28th, at 5 p.m. with a ceremonial opening, followed by a reconciliation party at 7 p.m. This celebration focuses on the reversal and the new beginning, while at 9 p.m. the complete, the night prayer of the church.

process and offers during the 24 hours

Saturday starts at 9 a.m. with the morning praise. This is followed by the rosary prayer at 9:30 a.m. and the Eucharistic celebration at 10 a.m. The evening praise is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Throughout the entire 24 hours there is the possibility to receive the sacrament of reconciliation (confession) or to have pastoral discussions. The event is accompanied by Stiller Eucharistic Adoration, which means that the participants have the opportunity to hear God's voice.

Pastor Schmitt encourages everyone to actively participate in prayer, regardless of age or time. Voluntary prayers are sought to spend one or more hours in the church. Interested parties can register in the parish office in Deidesheim.

preceding organization and confessions

For the successful implementation of the "24 hours for the Lord", some organizational steps are necessary. This includes the creation of a list of prayer to ensure at least two prayers in parallel (especially at night). In addition, enough priests are requested for the confession times, whereby the confession plan is announced with the corresponding times and names of the priests in the church.

An example of a silent adoration illustrates the deep spirituality of this practice: a farmer who sits in front of the Blessed Sacrament describes it impressively: "I look at him and he looks at me." This shows how significantly silent worship is for believers.

The organization of this prayer campaign will help to experience the participants a fulfilling and contemplative time. The project aims to ensure that the participants can concentrate on their inner spirituality, illustrated by the continuous silent worship and the possibility of confession.
