Draft budget 2025: Mayor warns of critical deficits!

On April 5, 2025, Mayor Daniel IMKECHED (CDU) presented the draft budget for the municipality of Florstadt. The draft shows a minus of 1,609,500 euros, which represents a deterioration compared to the previous year when the deficit was 1,398,400 euros. This means an increase of 211,100 euros. Current problems such as leaky windows, moisture damage and an outdated infrastructure in public buildings throw a shadow about the financial situation of the municipality. The planned income from different types of tax amounts to a total of 6.2 million euros from income tax, 3.78 million euros from trade tax, 2.079 million euros from property tax and 340,000 euros from sales tax. In contrast, the expenditure for school and district levies is around 7.475 million euros, which further illustrates the tense financial circumstances.

The first consultations will take place on April 29 and May 13 on the local advisory boards and committees, followed by a possible third reading on May 27, before the budget is finally decided on May 28th. In his presentation, Mayor IMPICITION criticized his predecessor Herbert Unger (SPD) for the inadequate housekeeping and the increasing personnel costs, which have risen by 50 % in over the past five years to over 8.6 million euros.

Unger rejected the allegations and described it as a bad recovery. He emphasized that the budget was always approved in the past and that there have always been financial challenges.
