On April 5, 2025, a reception for around 150 guests took place in the Friedberg town hall park, including around 180 freshmen and master's student at the Technical University of Middle Hesse (THM). The event was organized by the Friedberg city administration and, as the third of its kind, is part of a project to promote university education and the cooperation between the city and the university. fnp reports that Mayor Kjetil Dahlhaus underlined the visionary objective, Friedberg to develop into a university city.

An outstanding feature of the event was the invitation to actively participate by the new students. Mayor Dahlhaus recommended that the students look for quiet learning places in Friedberg such as the Burggarten and the Rathauspark. This made a connection to the resources of the city that are available to the students in their academic career.

A central component of the reception was the city rally, which was organized to bring the city closer to the first semesters. This activity asked questions about the city and enabled the participants to get to know their surroundings better. Prices for the rally winning teams were donated by the office dealer "König Plus" as well as the city library and Pegasus. The rewards ranged from board games and XXL bags of student food to "goodie bags" of the Thm.

The evening ended with a solemn award ceremony in the town hall park. The students had the opportunity to make the first friendships and to exchange ideas about their experiences. Master student Ole, 25 years old, and 20-year-old Tom reported on their future plans and the importance of active participation in university life.

The joint event illustrated the endeavors of the city and the university to build a close relationship that should strengthen both the students and the local community.
