Improvisation theater in Friedberg: creativity and fun for everyone!
On May 9, 2025, a special workshop was held in Friedberg under the direction of the experienced actor Norbert Deeg. The improvisation theater workshop, which lasted six hours, was aimed at the ensemble of the hero theater and served to give creative impulses for the upcoming staging of "My Friend Harvey". The impetus for this program came after a visit to the theater in February, in which contact with DEEG was linked the same evening. The parish hall of the city church was kindly made available for this creative gathering of Pastor Claudia Ginkel.
Norbert Deeg, who has 30 years of theater experience and began his career in 1992, headed 15 participants in the art of the improvisation theater. Central elements of the workshop were the "flow" and various playful exercises that not only promoted humor but also teamwork. The participants had to cope with several tasks at the same time, which led to unexpected and strange effects and turns in the scenes.
creativity and team dynamics
Another important element of the workshop was the "status game", which addressed the change between high and deep status in scenes. In groups of three and four, the participants experienced how different roles and dynamics can influence the presentation. The reactions of the participants were consistently positive; Many expressed the desire to learn more about improvisation and gushed with first ideas for their own improv shows in Friedberg.
The use of improvisation techniques has also become more important in the business world. Similar methods are used in particular in the field of team building and communication to give teams new energy. As a result, workshops such as DEEG are not only valuable for actors, but also offer companies the opportunity to improve the dynamics within their working groups and develop innovative solutions. Companies are increasingly realizing that improvisation is not only an entertaining element of the theater, but also serves as an effective tool to change settings and to break down tensions.
These findings are also implemented in company training that focuses on team building, communication and body language. The aim is to bring new teams together or give existing groups a creative boost. The fun and the informal atmosphere that arise at the improvisation theater promote learning and helping the core messages to arrive better.
The next performance of "My friend Harvey" in the Altes indoor pool theater is already for June and should be enriched with the ideas developed in this workshop. Improvisation theater not only remains a creative valve for the actors, but also promises to captivate the viewers with unpredictable humor and lively representations.
