Literature as a resistance: Memorial event for the Auschwitz anniversary
On January 7, 2025, the central memorial event 2023 took place under the title "Writing as resistance". This event addresses the literature that was created in ghettos and concentration camps. Professor Sascha Feuchert appeared as a guest speaker, who in his speech recognized the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp through the Red Army.
The soldiers found out emaciated people who had suffered unimaginable suffering in this liberation. Professor Feuchert explained how important writing and reading was in these dark times for the survival of people. The text production fulfilled several functions: it served to make the certificate, the processing of the experienced and the stabilization of the ego of the affected person. In his lecture, the professor let the victims and their literary works have their say and took into account both well -known and fewer prominent authors.
