Iserlohn: New internship initiatives for a strong choice of career!

On February 12, 2025, the city of Iserlohn, in cooperation with the municipal coordination center of the Märkische Kreis, launched a new Initiative for the professional orientation of young people. Under the motto "No conclusion without connection-transition school profession in NRW", the goal is to increase the number of internships for students. Companies are invited to actively participate in this important measure that should help young people to discover their interests and talents and to get to know different professional fields.

A central component of this initiative is the professional field exploration days, which are offered for pupils of the eighth grade and now also for five ninth classes of high schools from the Märkische Kreis. These trial internships, which take place over three days, offer young people the opportunity to gain practical experience and to find out about the requirements of training. The dates have been determined: from March 31 to April 4, 21 to 23 May, May 26th and 27th and June 30th to July 4th. The need for these internships is also emphasized by the existing shortage of skilled workers, from which employers can benefit by making contacts with talented young people at an early stage.

Support for the transition to the professional world

like Mags.nrw , support from transition launches is a further step to accompany young people during their internships Support for training places. This measure is particularly aimed at young people in the school transition sector, which are in training preparation or vocational school. The state government has invested around 50 million euros in coaching offers because around 10,000 young people need support in vocational colleges.

The need for high -quality internships and intensive support is emphasized by various ministries and organizations. The DGB calls for binding offers, while the IHK emphasizes the decisive role of professional training and further education for securing the young personnel. Craftsman chambers and entrepreneurial associations are also actively involved in creating internships. These measures are in the context of the NRW training consensus, a body that was formed to coordinate initiatives for professional orientation and securing skilled workers.

Various offers for career orientation

Additional programs such as the professional orientation program (BOP), which includes a potential analysis in the 7th grade and practice -oriented days in the 8th grade, should help young people to deal with their strengths and interests at an early stage. This content is part of the Initiative Bildungsketten, which was founded in 2010 and brings together various partners of the federal government and the countries to make it easier to get started with the professional world, as bmbf.de

parents and institutions receive support from initiatives such as "cliché -free" that aim to reduce gender clichés in choosing a career. With digital tools for career orientation and program -based solutions, the diverse needs of young people are dealt with even more consistently.

The “BFE portal” is available for companies, where they can offer places for occupational fields free of charge. The portal also offers an internship exchange as an additional tool to reduce the costs for employers. In addition, students can take advantage of several weeks all year round, which makes access to the practical professional world easier.
