Youth research: 60 years of innovation - inspire these projects!
On February 26, 2025, the renowned “Jugend Forscht” competition celebrated its 60th anniversary. This anniversary event was not only a review of six decades of innovative projects, but also an important day for the participating young researchers. This year, a total of 61 children and young people took part in the competition and presented 30 impressive projects from different thematic areas.
The projects were divided into different categories: working world, biology, chemistry, geo- and spatial sciences, mathematics/computer science as well as physics and technology. It should be emphasized that the "Junior" category, which is intended for children from the 4th grade up to 14 years, was able to come up with most participants. It was also noticeable that more girls than boys actively participated in the competition this year.
innovative projects and winners
Among the innovative projects, the work of Frederik and Juri stood out, which are in the 4th grade. They developed boats made of plastic bottles that are operated without fuel and use wind and hydropower. Her environmentally friendly idea impressively showed how recycling and sustainability can be combined in technology.
Tim, an 11-grader, presented a software that facilitates the book bond in schools. The jury impressed this technical solution and was awarded first place in its category.
not to forget Olivia and Sana from the 8th grade, who also won first place with their creative solution - a "treadmill" that charges electrical devices in class. Your project reflects the commitment of youth for sustainable technologies.
A look into the future
“youth research” is not just a competition; It is a platform that promotes young talents and offers them the opportunity to realize innovative ideas. The diversity of the projects shows that the next generation of scientists and developers is already working on solutions for the challenges of tomorrow.
