Channel work in St. Johann: Richard-Wagner-Straße closed from Monday!
Today, on March 24, 2025, the sewer work on Richard-Wagner-Straße begins in St. Johann. These work aims at the renewal of the dirt and rainwater canal and are carried out by the executing company, which, due to illness-related failures, had to move the originally planned start of construction on March 21. The work area includes the section between the buildings with house numbers 2 and 6.
Richard-Wagner-Straße in this area is completely blocked for the duration of the work. Depirtions are extensively signposted, while pedestrians can continue to use the walkway on the not affected side of the street. It is also critical that the access for rescue and fire engines is guaranteed at any time. The expected duration of the channel work will be required by the beginning of July 2025, and the costs incurred will amount to around 400,000 euros, as Saarbruecken.de
extended measures in Rostock
While the work in St. Johann is now pushing itself into the foreground, Richard-Wagner-Straße in Rostock is also the focus of similar construction work. From March 30, 2020, comprehensive changes to the supplying infrastructure lines began. These measures are implemented by Nordwasser GmbH and concern the renewal of the drinking and mixed water system as well as the improvement of the rainwater dissipation. A total of about 900 meters are laid new lines for drinking water and waste water, such as Rathaus.rostock.de explained in detail.
As part of an unbundling concept, the mixed water canal is divided into separate dirt and rainwater channels. The rainwater is derived via Ernst-Barlach-Straße into the rainwater collector of Grubenstrasse. In addition to the renewal of the water pipes, roadway, road drainage, side facilities and lighting are renewed, everything on behalf of the Office for Transport Plants.
- The buildings include:
- 2,000 square meters of lane in asphalt,
- 1,000 square meters of side facilities in paving construction.
In addition, the renewal of electricity and gas supply systems and information cables by Stadtwerke Rostock are carried out. The alternative laying techniques used are particularly careful that aim to minimize traffic and environmental pollution during the construction period. For the entire construction work, a degree is expected by summer 2021, whereby traffic restrictions are expected in sections, but no full closures are planned.
