Cardiology in Rotenburg: Heart failure unit receives a new award!
The cardiovascular center Rotenburg has again successfully received the certification of its Heart Failure Unit (HFU) by the German Society for Cardiology (DGK). The HFU, which was first awarded on September 2, 2021, fulfills high quality standards for the care of patients with heart failure, which was confirmed by a recently taking place. During this review, the performance of cardiology at the Rotenburg location was assessed in detail. The HFU offers comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients with acute and chronic heart failure.
The focus of treatment in the HFU includes optimal drug therapy, interventional coronary therapy, interventional folding therapy, implantation of complex cardiac devices and heart support systems in the final stage of the disease. Prof. Dr. Marcus Franz, the chief physician of cardiology, emphasizes the special importance of certification for the quality of patient care at the clinic. His colleague, Arnulf Hartleitner, Commercial Director of the HKZ, emphasizes that this certification not only ensures the quality of care, but also the economic advantages for the clinic.
funded networks for heart failure
The DGK, together with the German Society for Thorax, Hardening and Vascular Surgery (DGTHG) and the Federal Association of Residual Cardiologists (BNK), promotes the development of quality-secured care structures for patients with heart failure. The aim is to create a comprehensive heart failure network (Heart Failure Network, HF-Net). This network aims to successfully network inpatient modules of different care intensity and structured long -term care.
The care should take place as required and take into account the individual medical and social needs of the patients. There are various facilities within the HF-NET, including HFU focus practices and outpatient clinics, HFU focus clinics and national HFU centers. The requirements for the certification of HFUS are based on clearly defined standards and quality features that have been continuously updated in recent years.
Future vision in the Hersfeld-Rotenburg Clinic
Future developments in cardiological care at the Hersfeld-Rotenburg Clinic are already being planned. One of the main measures is the relocation of the HKZ to Bad Hersfeld in order to better interlock the departments of cardiology and cardiac surgery. This strategic decision could contribute significantly to optimize patient care and at the same time increase the competitiveness of the clinic in the health market. The initiatives to improve heart failure are part of a larger plan that has been pursued by the DGK, DGTHG and the ALKK since 2016. Historically, heart failure in Germany remains the most common diagnosis for hospital admissions with a significant mortality rate. Through a well -structured network and the implementation of HFUS, those responsible hope to ensure the fast and high -quality diagnosis as well as the treatment of acute and decompensated chronic heart failure and to avoid rehospitalization. Information about the ongoing certification processes can be found on the websites of the German Society for Cardiology and in the corresponding technical articles that illuminate the developments in this important area.
