Ticket sales for Max Ophüls Price: Record numbers in Saarbrücken!
The Max Ophüls Prize Film Festival opened the ticket sales for its 46th edition on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. The sales location is located in the Europagalerie in Saarbrücken. Compared to the previous year, ticket sales show a pleasant increase.
In 2024, a total of 7533 tickets were sold in the Saarland Museum. For the current festival season, 8193 tickets sold can be reported, which means an increase of 660 tickets, just under nine percent. The sale of festival passes and vouchers began on December 4th and recorded about 30 percent more sales compared to the previous year, such as the Saarbrücker Zeitung reported.
Max Ophüls Price and its meaning
The festival, which takes place annually in Saarbrücken, awards the Max Ophül's price for the best feature film with the aim of promoting young directors in German -speaking countries. The prize money for the Max Ophül's price is a total of 36,000 euros and is divided into director, producer and distributor. A theatrical publication of the film within 12 months of the festival is required.
In addition, the Max Ophüls Award is awarded for the best director of the festival, with prize money of 5,500 euros, as well as an additional sales allowance of 5,500 euros. There is also the FRITZ-RAFF screenplay price that supports the work of female screenwriters, with prize money of 13,000 euros for an author from the competition.
Further awards include the audience award for the feature film, which goes to the director with the highest public assessment, as well as the award for the socially relevant film, sponsored by the Federal Center for Political Education and Deutschlandfunk Kultur.
