Cork cork for environmental protection: How to help the cranes!

The association martial arts church has opposed environmental pollution in its own way. It is now officially corken collection point of the nature conservation association Germany (NABU). This is done as part of the NABU cork campaign, which aims to further use cork-friendly cork. Roman Butz, the chairman of the association, invites all members, friends and supporters to make their contribution and give their collected cork.

cork consist of sustainable raw materials and can be reused in a variety of ways. They are recycled in non -profit workshops, for example in Trier. The collected cork not only represent an environmentally friendly recycling material, they also have a social meaning.

crane protection projects as a target

The proceeds from the sale of the insulation granulate flows into crane protection projects in Spain and Germany. In Spain, nature conservation work pursues the goal of preserving the traditional cork economy and the unique landscapes of the "Dehesas". These areas serve up to 100,000 cranes from Central and Northern Europe annually as wintering locations.

The NABU cork campaign is successfully implemented by operating over 1,100 collection points in almost all federal states, mainly in northern Germany. Since the start of the campaign in 1994, over 500 tons of cork have been collected, which corresponds to around 3,500 cubic meters or about 125 million units.

width of participation

The goal of the NABU cork campaign is to recycle a large part of the 1.2 billion bottle cork in Germany. At the moment, only a tenth of the collected cork is being recycled, which makes it clear that there is still a lot of space for improvements. If the entire cork could be collected and recycled in Germany, it would even be about 32,000 cubic meters of insulation granulate for building the house.

It is important that only real cork are collected. Rest pieces of cork floors or other materials connected to glue, oil or varnishes cannot be used. Information about correct disposal are on other websites, such as that of www.diakonie-kork.de , available.

The Association of the Kampfsport-Kirchvers thus sets a strong sign of environmental and nature conservation and shows how everyone can contribute to the preservation of these valuable resources by collecting cork.
