Art in the box: Jubilee exhibition in Gütersloh starts in 2025!

The city of Gütersloh is preparing for an exciting art season in 2025, in which the popular series of exhibition “Art in the box” celebrates its start in April. gütersloh.de reports that the art vitrine at the town hall is equipped with changing exhibitions from April to December to promote the creativity of local artists.

This year's series is under the topic of "anniversary", which is not least due to the city anniversary. An outstanding feature of this Initiative is to offer artists a platform to make their work accessible to a wide audience. The exhibition area that changes every three months comprises a total of four square meters.

The exhibition participants

The first artists whose works are presented are Clara, Manfred Stolz, Barbara Davis and Rolf Armbruster. From April to June, Clara Rews will exhibit her graceful wooden figures made of wood or stone as well as large filled paintings. Her art, which operates under the pseudonym Christiane Güth, aims to create connections between motif and painting.

From July to September, Manfred Stolz and Barbara Davis will be seen with a joint exhibition. Her works enable a dialogue between proudly ‘figurative drawings of Gütersloh cityscapes, including the theater and the town hall, and Daviss powerful abstract painting that integrates objects and collages.

The last phase of the exhibition, which lasts from October to December, is designed by Rolf Armbruster. Known for his artistic representation of logistics issues, he will present colorful, comic-like posters that take up historical elements of Güterslohs.

participation and application

artists who want to take part in this anniversary project can apply to propose their work for the showcase. Kulturportal-gütloh.de explains that the application with an informal motivation letter and up to five images of the works of art can be made by email to Lilian Wohnhas. The application period ends on December 15, 2024.

The requirements for the submitted art objects include weather resistance because the exhibits are exposed to the elements. This ensures that the work can remain in the showcase from April to December, whereby the format and design can be flexibly designed according to the ideas of the artists.

In addition, the city of Gütersloh will continue to strengthen its efforts to art and culture. A digital map was recently published that makes works of art comprehensively in public space.
