Lämmer love: an enjoyable picnic with sheep and child!

The “Picnic at the Lambs” took place in the picturesque Sonneneck under the organization of Edith Hengge-Dörr on the weekend of April 5 to April 6, 2025. This event attracted over 200 people on Saturday who spread their picnic ceilings on the meadow and enjoyed the special nature experience. The guests had the opportunity to watch the sheep and lambs and especially for the children it was fun to stroke the gentle animals.

The herd of sheep from Hengge-Dörr, consisting of around 30 sheep and 12 lambs, was not only a feast for the eyes, but also made the event an educational experience. Despite the cool temperatures on Sunday, many visitors came again and liked the relaxed picnic in the pasture.

diverse program and regional products

The program included exciting activities. On Saturday, Biofarming.pfalz presented its sustainable operating concept and offered information material and wool pellets for gardening. Visitors were able to exchange ideas with Katja and Marvin on various agricultural topics.

On Sunday, the guests were allowed to discuss the challenges in animal husbandry and agriculture with Markus Handrich from Handrichhof. These conversations offered a valuable insight into the working method of local agriculture. In addition, regionally produced delicacies were offered, such as the pasta and eggs of free -range chickens that are perfect for Easter egg coloring.

In addition to the culinary offers, drinks were also present: wine and grape juice from the Lukas Metz winery from Meckenheim were very popular. For the coming year, Hengge-Dörr plans to repeat the event and possibly even celebrate a "Lämmer birthday", which increases the anticipation among visitors.

sustainability and animal husbandry in focus

The event also reflects the current trend in agriculture, which deals with the structural change and the challenges of sustainable animal husbandry. The number of animal -keeping companies in Germany has almost halved between 2010 and 2020. According to Federal Minister Cem Özdemir, it is important to create planning security for animal owners and to support original sustainable agricultural concepts.

The promotion of high -quality animal husbandry systems is supported by a comprehensive program that minimizes stumbling blocks for farmers. Similar to the products that were offered when “picnic at the lambs”, regional and biological animal husbandry increasingly gained importance because it can help reduce nutritional uncertainties and reduce dependencies.

For everyone who wants to choose spontaneously, registration for future events is not absolutely necessary. More information is available at Vielpfalz or at Rheinpfalz .
