Long night of libraries: a festival for knowledge and culture in Munich!

On April 6, 2025, the city of Titisee-Neustadt experienced a happy meeting of literature and music lovers during the long night of libraries in the media libraries on the Münster. Around 100 visitors flocked to the event that under the motto "Knowledge. Share. Discover." stand. More than half of the guests were present at 7 p.m. at the beginning of the event, which underlined the high popularity of the event.

A third of the visitors consisted of children and adolescents who, in addition to music and singing, also had the opportunity to enjoy console games in the multifunctional event room. The positive atmosphere in the media library was noticeable in both the musical appearances of the duo Adeline & Klaus Zeh and playing. The duo delighted those present with readings about Ireland and travel stories.

diverse program and special ambience

like Badische-zeitung.de reported, but not every part of the buffet was a hit: Irish guinness beer did not consistently provide positive feedback. Nevertheless, most guests enjoyed the finger food buffet, which was prepared for the celebration of the second birthday of the media library. This makes it clear that the media library, which was inaugurated two years ago, is becoming more important as a cultural location.

The clean -up work after the event only started after 11 p.m., which indicates that visitors stayed for a long time. Many of those present are apparently not regular customers of the media library, which also made the event a successful opportunity to win new visitors.

assessments for the nationwide initiative

The long night of the libraries was not just a local event, but part of the first nationwide long night of libraries, which took place in Germany on April 4, 2025. The Mediathek of the Institute Français in Munich also took part and offered an equally varied program. According to Institutfrancais.de there, in addition to readings in French, German and Spanish, can also be seen an exhibition with the title "Deported, I was visited in your age: a European history"

The media library in Munich remained open until 9 p.m. and presented additional programs, including books in connection with the exhibition, such as "Charlotte" by David Foenkinos. Visitors not only had the opportunity to browse, they were also able to try out games from the Ludothèque. This shows how libraries go beyond the pure book line-up and become living communication and meeting locations.

summarized it can be seen that the long night of the libraries in Titisee-Neustadt was a complete success. The media library is already planning a participation in the next nationwide long library night and thus shows a strong commitment to cultural education.
