Mettmann records heat loss: thermography for all buildings!
The energetic renovation of buildings is an urgent topic, especially against the background of the high proportion of the building sector in the greenhouse gas emissions in Germany. The district of Mettmann has now launched a comprehensive project that is intended to help home owners, companies and municipalities to improve the energy efficiency of their real estate. Under the project name Climap a thermographic recording of the entire district is carried out from January 2025 to March 2026.
The first step includes aerial photographs of building roofs with a specially equipped aircraft, followed by night shots of the building facades using a thermography vehicle. The start of this procedure in the cities of Erkrath and Langenfeld is planned, whereby the first heat images are to be recorded in January 2025 depending on the weather conditions.
Individual energy reports and digital heating card
The goal of the project is to identify energetic weaknesses, so -called "thermal bridges". These are made visible by infrared measurements that capture the surface temperatures of external components. The resulting heat images show the temperature distribution and help to recognize heat losses. Thermography is a proven procedure that enables you to carry out a targeted maintenance and renovation measures.
For the building owners, individual energy reports are created that are expected to cost around 60 euros. These reports, which will be available for the first two cities from May 2025 and from May 2026 for other cities, are based on the recorded heat images and offer concrete recommendations to improve energy efficiency.
data protection and further information
In addition to the creation of the individual heat reports, the district of Mettmann plans to develop extensive advisory services in order to support the evaluation of the energy reports. A digital heating map based on aggregated data of the thermographic recording is also created. However, this card will not allow any conclusions to be drawn about specific buildings to ensure data protection. Entered data is treated confidentially and affected owners can object to data processing.
If you want to deal more intensively with the project or to obtain information about the objection form, you will find further details on the website of the district of Mettmann: www.kreis-mettmann.de/thermography .
Viewed as a whole, the Climap project offers a promising approach to reducing energy costs and eliminating possible mold problems, which are often due to inadequate thermal insulation. The use of the latest technical processes provides an effective means to improve the energetic state of buildings in the district of Mettmann.Details | |
