Mettmann Duathlon 2025: Extra class competition on April 13th!

On March 31, 2025, the organizers are preparing for a sporting highlight: the 21st Mettmann Duathlon, which will take place on Sunday, April 13th. Organized by Mettmann-Sport , this event will not only be an exciting challenge for the participants, but also an important event at the NRW state championships in the Duathlon.

around 350 athletes, including both women, men and young people for the first time, are expected. This event attracts both recreational athletes as well as ambitious competitive athletes from Germany and the adjacent countries, who can run on the formative disciplines, cycle and look forward to running again.

The duathlon is held around the coveted Gottfried Schultz Cup and the NRW championship in the sprint distance. The competition route initially includes 5 km running, followed by 24 km cycling and ends with another 2.5 km long run. The running route leads through the Löffelelbeck residential area, to Meisenburg and back to Hasselbeckstrasse. The bike route runs via Hasseler Straße, Nordstraße, Seibel Querspange, Johannes-Flintrop-Straße, Osttangente and Wülfrather Straße, all part of a demanding course in the "Bergisches Land", which has to be completed in two rounds.

The transition zone as well as the start and the destination are located at the sports facility at the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium, where the award ceremonies will also take place. Traffic impairments are expected for residents during the event, especially on the bike route, where there are closures for individual and bus traffic from 8 a.m. to around 2 p.m. Appropriate information about these closures has already been distributed by post -throwing.

logistics and arrival

In order to support residents on arrival and departure, the city of Mettmann has approved appropriate measures. Parking is available at the sports facility on the Pfennig and at the Mettmann THC. Access to these parking spaces is only possible between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. However, the access roads via Bülthauser Weg and Nordstraße are closed because of the event, so that participants and spectators should take into account the circumstances in advance.

The maximum number of participants for the duathlon is 500, although around 300 starting places are currently being awarded. Interested parties who want to secure one of the coveted places should therefore register immediately. The Mettmann Duathlon has established itself for many athletes over the years and promises exciting competitions in a festive setting.
