Murder in the border area: Insentive investigation into deceased Nele!
On March 28, 2025, the thriller is broadcast on Arte at 8.15 p.m. This ninth case of the investigator duo Judith Mohn (Christina Hecke) and Freddy Breyer (Robin Sondermann) illuminates a complex family drama that plays in the Saarlouis region in the Franco-German border area. The story bears the subtitle "Forever your" and is also available in the media library. Director Kirsten Laser implemented a script by Magdalena Grazewicz and Thomas Gerhold.
The focus of the action is Moritz Brück (Robert Finster), whose wife Anna (Michaela Weingartner) is found in her goldsmith. This unexpected murder initially leads to the assumption that it is a robbery. But when the investigators drill deeper, they realize that Moritz is involved in a conflict with his father Georg Brück (Stephan Bissmeier). In addition, a second cell phone from Anna creates new suspicions that bring the possibility of a side jump into play.
a terrifying discovery
Judith Mohn and Freddy Breyer, the experienced commissioners, are quickly on the trail of other suspects. A crucial note leads to Otto Harms (André Szymanski), whose husband died some time ago. Harms had been seen near the Brücks at the time of the crime and could have acted out of revenge. In a dramatic turning point of the investigation, Judith Mohn succeeds in preventing Moritz and his son Theo (Theo Hache) at the last minute.
The case shows parallels to another investigation, which only began a few years ago. Another investigative area illuminates the body of a prostitute named Nele, which was found in a forest area on the Saar loop. Judith Mohn also takes over this case and discovers that the murder is related to a never enlightened case of nine years ago: Maria, a 16-year-old girl who was then disappeared, was also seen in this area. The potential for connections between cases grow when Judith included the former commissioner Markus Zerner in the ongoing investigation.
a network of suspects
The investigation in the milieu of the long-distance drivers, along the Route Germany-France, reveal new players. Erich Kupka, a trunk driver, is also targeted by the investigators when his wife Heike fears that he could be related to the murder. However, the suspicion of Kupka quickly relativizes when Judith and Freddy get in mortal danger when interviewing another suspect.
The suspect confesses the murder of Nele, but is classified as mentally disturbed. Judith and her team continue their investigation, finally steering the focus on Paul Satzmann, the former friend of Maria. The stories of the investigators are both shattering and revealing, since tragedies are often hidden behind the murder cases.
In a wide context, the dramatic course of the television series illustrates the current challenges of society. According to the police crime statistics (PKS), the crimes recorded in Germany rose by 5.5 % compared to 2022 in 2023. This increase was identified as a result of increased mobility, economic loads and a high immigration rate. Violent crime in particular has increased and reached the highest level since 2007.
This context makes it clear that the fiction in “in truth” parallel structures has a reality, the viewers both entertain and stimulate thought. With intimate telling about the crime and the human conflict, the series creates a bridge between entertainment and social challenges that extend far beyond the screens
