Nadja Westermann brings magic to children's music with Nisha and the magic ball!
Nadja Westermann from Steinfurth has fulfilled a long-cherished dream: a children's musical entitled "Nisha and the magic ball" was created. She received support from her husband Alexander, who not only participated in the technical implementation, but is also actively involved in the development of music and texts. For a long time, Nadja had had the desire to write a musical for children, and an encouraging conversation with the daycare manager in Oppershofen brought her to the right way to implement in 2025. Shortly after this conversation, the idea for the story came from a lonely six-year-old girl who has a way out of her loneliness with the help of a miraculous gift.
Nadja began to write at the weekend and received a creative river with fluent inspiration. Alexander supported them by designing lyrics and rhymes. In the musical implementation, they use various modern technologies, including an Internet app and artificial intelligence (AI) to create melodies. The intensive examination of the AI required a lot of commitment to harmoniously coordinate text and music, which resulted in about 800 pieces of music.
The origin and technical implementation
After a comprehensive revision, Nadja was largely satisfied with the result. Alexander had the creative idea to record the musical as a radio play. In this production he took over the role of speaking for Nisha’s father, while Nadja spoke the female characters. Her children, Eve and Frederik, were also part of the recordings, which brought a family note into the project. Alexander, who provided appropriate software and microphone technology, provided better sound quality.
The first recordings presented Nadja to her colleagues, who quickly offered support for a performance. She paid particular attention to involving many children in the performance without one of them playing a continuous role. In order to enable the little ones to participate, a simpler version of the musical was deliberately selected.
publication and future plans
But not enough: At the suggestion of Alexander, a homepage for "Nisha and the magic ball" was created. They also published the musical as a book that includes 76 pages and is available as an e-book and print book. The associated songs can be heard directly via QR codes in the book. Another novelty is the possibility of listening to the musical free of charge on the homepage nishas-zauberkugel.de
At the same time, Nadja and Alexander are planning to develop a series of musicals and books that are linked. The second part of the musical is already being planned. The creative process is not only shaped by family commitment, but also by the supportive role of modern technologies, which according to the author Thomas Foster in his book on the influence of artificial intelligence in music production. Foster emphasizes how such technologies can open up new creative opportunities and revolutionize sound design.
With this combination of family cooperation and innovative technology, Nadja Westermann not only wants to delight children, but also build a sustainable artistic project that should be well received in the region and beyond. "Nisha and the magic ball" mark the beginning of this trip.
