New pastor in Krefeld: Laura Bowinkelmann is introduced!

On March 9, 2025, Laura Bwinkelmann will be introduced to the Evangelical Paulus community in Krefeld. The inauguration, which will take place at 2 p.m., is led by superintendent Barbara Schwahn. For Bowinkelmann, this ceremony means a return to a place where it already worked during her vicariat. Your connection to Krefeld is strong, even if your professional career has not followed the theological path from the start.

Before deciding on the service in the church, Laura Bwinkelmann first began studying mathematics and Protestant religion at the Bergisches University of Wuppertal, which she stopped after only one semester. Today she is 37 years old and is looking forward to the new challenges that this position brings.

introductory service and other events

The introductory service is only one of several upcoming events in the Paulus community. On March 16, there will be a gold and jubilee confirmation in the Friedenskirche, to which confirmands of the anniversary year are invited. These anniversary years include the last 50, 60, 65 and 70 years. Also on the same day there is a light pure service at 11 a.m.

The Paulusgemeinde also offers regular events, such as the ecumenical prayer of peace, which is held every Saturday at 12 noon in the old church of Krefeld. The address of the Pauluskirche is Hülser Straße 171, 47803 Krefeld. Community-like people reach the municipal office on 02151-753785 or by email at parishebuero@ev-gv.de.

community life and diaconal commitment

The Paulus community belongs to the Evangelical Community Association Krefeld in the Krefeld-Viersen church district. The diaconal commitment in Krefeld is also part of her work. Diakonie Germany operates numerous institutions in the region, including station missions as well as nursing homes and daycare centers. The diaconal area is an important part of church work that focuses on a variety of social support.

The Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD) has also published a comprehensive brochure that summarizes important figures and facts about church life. According to this publication, around 1.1 million volunteers are involved in numerous church activities. This shows how important the volunteering is for the community of believers and what role it plays for the church infrastructure.

LAURA BOWINGENMANN's inauguration is therefore not only a personal new beginning, but also representative of the lively and diverse community life of the Paulus community and the Evangelical Community Association in Krefeld. The commitment of all participants contributes to strengthening the active faith community and the diaconal offers on site. As the annual solution for 2025 says: "Check everything and keep the good."
