The new managing director brings a breath of fresh air to the regiboahn!

On January 30, 2025, it was announced that Götz Nink will take over the position of the managing director at the Regiobahn Fahrbetriebsgesellschaft mbH. He will start the position on February 1, while his predecessor Sascha Zukt leaves the company at his own request. Zuk needs new professional challenges and will leave on January 31. Nink, 43 years old and grew up in Erkrath, has over 15 years of experience from the international railway industry, of which he spent ten years in France. He returned to the region with his family six years ago. Together with Rolf Umten, who acts as the second managing director, Nink will lead the regiobahn.

Alexandra Westerkamp, chair of the supervisory board, praised Nink's extensive experience in the rail vehicle industry, which he gained, among other things, at Bombardier and Gatx. His technical skills should make a decisive contribution to electrification and modernization of the regiobahn. The Supervisory Board and the shareholders thank Sascha for his committed commitment in the past five years.

expansion of electrification in Bavaria

The journey to electrification is absorbed in Germany. The "Acceleration Commission Schiene" has submitted a report that enables the electrification of the Nuremberg Markedwitz-Cheb route. Sascha Müller MdB and Markus Büchler MdL from the Greens were pleased with the results. Thanks to this progress, the planning for the targeted route can now be pushed further. It is noteworthy that proof of economy in electrification projects is no longer necessary, which is considered significant progress.

electrification measures are considered particularly environmentally friendly and noise -reducing. This also includes other projects in Bavaria, such as electrification according to Furth in the forest and Hof-Markredwitz-Regensburg-Landshut. The changes in planning law are rated as crucial for the future of rail transport in Bavaria. The "Acceleration Commission Schiene", which was launched by the Federal Transport Minister in April 2022, consists of decision -makers from politics, science, administration and the rail industry. Their central goal is to expand the rail infrastructure to increase capacity in the existing network.

sustainable rail infrastructure as a target

The advantages of switching to sustainable rail traffic are comprehensively documented. Nevertheless, the actors face challenges that affect the production of new rail vehicles with environmentally friendly drive technologies and the conversion of existing vehicles. Careful planning and technological adjustments in production and maintenance are required for successful implementation.

The integration of electric motors and energy recovery systems as well as structural changes in the vehicles are particularly important. The assembly process plays a crucial role and requires precise planning of the required resources to ensure quality and efficiency. The continuous further development and integration of modern technologies in rail vehicle production is essential to ensure the future of rail traffic.

Atlas Copco is strongly involved in this area and cooperates with partners from the rail industry to develop innovative solutions. The aim is to support customers on their way to the Smart Factory, in particular through the use of digitization and automation, which improves both efficiency and production quality.

The progressive electrification and modernization in rail transport is a significant step towards a more environmentally friendly and more efficient mobility.
