New chairman at Vhno: Blättner brings a breath of fresh air!

On January 31, 2025, the Association for Homeland Care and Nature Conservation Otterstadt (VHNO) announced an important new occupation in its leadership. Andreas Blättner, who previously worked as a deputy chairman, was unanimously elected as the new chairman. This decision followed the death of former chairman Rudi Regenauer last summer.

During the general meeting, Blättner also presented Klaus Bethäuser, who was also unanimously elected the new representative. The number of members of the VHNO remains stable with currently 166 members, and the cashier Monika Tremmel reported a positive state of finance, despite increased expenses.

News from the club work

The Vhno plans numerous actions for 2025 to promote the commitment of its members and to support nature in the region. In addition to ordinary activities, such as a tree care and tree cutting course on February 22nd, there will also be innovations. In this way, interested parties can now watch the storks via a newly installed webcam.

Last year 16 young storks left the nest on the Kollessel, and the hope of welcoming young talent on the roof of the Otterstadt primary school this year remains. Blättner and the club members are happy about the spread of the monthly newsletter, which helps to quickly inform the members and to actively involve them in club affairs.

The commitment rate in this sector has increased continuously since 1999, which underlines the growing importance and interest in nature conservation measures.

Overall, it can be said that with its new leadership, the VHNO aims to both strengthen the membership and to actively contribute to the maintenance and promotion of nature in the Otterstadt region. Numerous events and projects are already being planned that are intended to further consolidate the role of the association in nature conservation.
