New board of the FWG Schifferstadt: A fresh wind in politics!
On April 2, 2025, the Free Voter Community (FWG) Schifferstadt chose a new board, in which the previous chairman Dieter Weißenmayer was able to assert his position again. In a well -attended meeting, he was confirmed with a clear majority in office. From now on, Thomas Münz is taking on his role in deputy, while Berti Leibel will act as treasurer and Franz-Josef Kolb as secretary. The list of assessors includes Marion Schleicher-Frank, Patrick Kunz, Erwin Fischer, Roswitha Leydecker and Thomas Speicher. The cash auditors Stefan Schleicher and Mona Heid complete the new team. This means that the FWG Schifferstadt remains a stable factor in the municipal politics of the region.
The meeting was not only an election event, but also an opportunity to report on cross -faction cooperation. Marion Schleicher-Frank, the group leader in the city council, provided a comprehensive overview of the previous successes of the FWG. The choice of Weißenmayer is particularly noteworthy for the second deputy, a crucial step for the fractional power of the FWG in Schifferstadt.
growth and challenges
The FWG Schifferstadt has experienced great growth in the past few months and has won five new members, which raises the total number to 54. This illustrates the growing support for the electoral community in the city. It is a positive signal, especially in times when the political landscape is often shaped by challenges.
At the annual general meeting, which took place in the Palatinum in Mutterstadt, not only the new board members were elected, but also important changes to the statutes were discussed. Marion Schleicher-Frank, who was also elected as the new chairman of the Free Voting Community Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis e.V., addressed the 2025 budget in her speech. This is particularly relevant because the FWG Schifferstadt has been responsible again since 2024 and wants to take proactive measures to improve municipal infrastructure.
municipal self -government and citizen participation
In the context of local politics, it is important to emphasize that citizens in Germany enjoy the right to municipal self -government. This is guaranteed by Article 28 (2) of the Basic Law. The municipal self -administration enables cities and municipalities to make decisions in various areas independently, including education, health and environmental policy. This structure gives the citizens the opportunity to actively participate in the political design of their community through elections and also through direct democratic instruments such as citizens' petitions.
Recently, the security of local politicians is an important topic, especially after incidents that have led to an increase in violence against local politicians. A survey from 2020 showed that 64 % of local politicians have already been insulted or threatened, an alarming trend that underlines the necessary commitment and risks with which local politicians are faced.
The FWG Schifferstadt shows through its board elections and the active participation of its members that they are willing to face these challenges and to actively support the municipal self -government.
