On January 29, 2025, the New Year's reception of the Lions Club Minerva took place in the museums of the city of Lüdenscheid. President Britta Kunkel announced that the club would continue to continue its social and cultural engagement. The evening attracted well-known guests, including Mayor Sebastian Wagemeyer, CDU member of the state parliament Ralf Schwarzkopf and the District Governor from Westfalen-Ruhr, Peter Fricke. The club's motto, "for each other", reflects the endeavor to support local projects.
Mayor Wagemeyer paid tribute to the contribution of the Minerva women in the community and emphasized the importance of solidarity in difficult times. In his speech, he also expressed criticism of the new US government and emphasized the Lions Club guiding principle "We Serve". Ralf Schwarzkopf illuminated the current economic situation in Germany and called for a reduction in bureaucracy to promote social commitment.
projects and commitment
A central project of the club is the so -called "treasure parat", which supports children mentally ill. As part of this Initiative, twelve -week group care for children between the ages of 8 and 11 is offered. This type of support is crucial to offer the affected children a more stable environment and to promote their psychosocial development. District Governor Peter Fricke praised the commitment of the Lions Club Minerva in this area.
The choir “Pure Frauensache” contributed to the entertainment of the guests, which provided a festive atmosphere with a selection of music pieces, including songs from the dead pants and ABBA. The participation of many donors and donation recipients underlined the community and the network of the club.
other New Year's receptions of the Lions Clubs
Another New Year's reception was organized by the Lions Club Pulheim, with President Dr. Anne-Gret Iturriaga Abarzua moderated the evening. The highlight was the awarding of the Abt-Wolfhelm Prize, which was endowed with 2,000 euros and was awarded to the association "Accompaniment of refugee people e.V. Pulheim". The prize honors civic engagement and is reminiscent of Abbot Wolfhelm, who has made up for education and sense of community.
The Lions clubs in the region not only show their commitment in social matters, but also their ability to form networks and bring together the community. Each event offers the opportunity to discuss important topics and to support each other.
The different New Year's receptions of these organizations emphasize the importance of regional engagement and reflect the common motto of the Lions Club: "We serve" - we serve.
