Neustadt cycles into spring: improvements planned for cyclists!
On Thursday, March 20, 2025, the next public AG Rad will take place in Neustadt on the wine road from 5:30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. On the occasion of the calendar spring beginnings, the city administration will inform about planned improvements in cycling in the region. The AG Rad also offers an interactive part with a hands -on action based on the positive response of the previous year. Following the presentations, time is planned to exchange experiences and ideas. Citizens are invited to ask questions and to express suggestions. Registrations can be sent by email at the latest on Wednesday, March 19th to reverbSplanung@neustadt.eu
rising bike use in the region
With the friendly weather in Neustadt, more and more people are using the bike. This trend reflects the efforts to promote cycling through targeted measures. In addition to increasing interest in cycling facilities, nationwide programs are also pointed out. The national cycling plan 3.0 (NRVP 3.0) offers a comprehensive basis for cycling and mobility policy in Germany.
the NRVP 3.0 aims to increase the paths covered by bike by 2030 from 120 to 180 paths per person and year. A central aspect is also the increase in the average length of the bike paths, which is to grow from 3.7 km to 6.0 km by 2030. In order to increase security on the streets, the NRVP is aiming for a reduction in road fatalities among cyclists by 40% by 2030. These goals can only be achieved through close cooperation between the federal, state and municipalities.
Citizen participation as the key to improvement
Citizen participation plays an important role in the development and prioritization of the goals in NRVP 3.0. Over 2,000 ideas for improving cycling were brought in by citizens, which shows that the needs of the population should flow into the planning. Important concerns include a high-quality bicycle infrastructure and the possibility of increasingly designing work and official channels by bike.
The current amounts for cycling are 11 euros per person per year and should increase to 30 euros by 2030. These investments are necessary to guarantee a modern and safe cyclist experience and thus close the existing gaps in the infrastructure.
With the upcoming event to improve cycling in Neustadt, the city picks up the topics of NRVP 3.0 and shows how local measures are embedded in the greater context of national mobility policy. For interested citizens, this is a valuable opportunity to actively participate in the process and bring in their voice.
