Neustädter Spring: A festival full of fun and culture for the whole family!

The big family festival "Neustädter Spring" is just around the corner. From 1st to 4th May 2025, the Neustädter Markt in Dresden will be transformed into a colorful meeting point for the whole family. The event that attracts with free admission promises a varied program with music, hands -on activities, rides and culinary delights.

In the middle of the historical ambient around the golden rider, visitors can expect a diverse stage program. On Thursday, the celebrations start with an interactive children's show by the Tomello project circus followed by a dance show by Broadway Dance School, which presents various dance styles from jazz to hip-hop. The musical appearances of the Percy Pollyvocs and the final performance of the combo "Quasi ne band" with cover songs round off the first festival day.

Friday is musically designed by DJ Bodo Gießner, who will create a mood from 5 p.m. On Saturday, the children's disco with Louis La Metta is on the program, followed by a show dance program from the dance school Dance Life. A highlight of the day will be the appearance of Sophia Venus, who delights the audience with her hit music before the Rock’n’Roll band crowns the Elbonautics.

The last day of the festival, Sunday, starts at 11 a.m. with the Oldie Men, the Dixieland, Polka and Swing. Afterwards there is a hands-on show with Friedoline and Friedolin before the band Himmelsmaler forms the end of the big festival with their songs from five decades. In addition, visitors can look forward to a ferris wheel, numerous children's actions and stands with snacks and regional specialties.

A special highlight on Sunday, May 4th, is the open Sunday from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on the main street, where local traders open their doors and present a variety of offers.

During the Neustädter Spring the city enriches festivities, Dresden's art scene will also be an important meeting point in the coming months. On June 19, 2025, the long night of galleries and museums will take place, which is already celebrating its 18th edition. This evening, art lovers can visit numerous exhibitions in the galleries between the Golden Rider and Albertplatz. The baroque district has developed into a hotspot of contemporary art in recent years, where established and young galleries present their works and promote the creative atmosphere of the city.

The cultural diversity is supplemented this year by numerous events throughout Germany. Chemnitz became Capital of Culture in Europe in 2025, while Berlin celebrates the 200th birthday of the Museum Island with special events. In Dessau, the focus will be on the celebrations for the 100th birthday of the architecture and design school. The German fairy tale road celebrates its 50th birthday with around 60 locations that tell the history of the Brothers Grimm.

This colorful year there are many opportunities for travelers to take part in cultural events and get in touch with artists. An event calendar is available to discover a variety of festivities and exhibitions in the different federal states.
