1860 Munich: unbeatable and big challenges!

On March 13, 2025, TSV 1860 Munich remains unbeaten in the 3rd division after achieving a 0-0 draw against SV Wehen Wiesbaden. This match took place in front of 3,816 spectators as part of the always contested league in the Brita Arena. 1860 captain Jesper Verlaat noticed after the game that both teams did not succeed in promoting the round into the square, even after another hour of play.

The team of coach Michael Köllner is now planning the next league game. On Saturday, March 16, in 1860 the Unterhaching game association played in the Grünwald stadium at home, with the kick -off at 4:30 p.m. Historically, in 1860, however, in the last three liga regulations against Haching did not achieve a victory, which underlines the current challenges of the team.

dates and renovation plans

In addition, the DFB has scheduled the game days 31 to 34 for the 3rd league. These include:

  • 5. April: Home game against Energie Cottbus (2 p.m.)
  • 9. April: home game against SV Sandhausen (7 p.m.)
  • 13. April: away game against SV Waldhof Mannheim (1:30 p.m.)
  • 19. April: home game against Alemannia Aachen (2 p.m.)

In the hindquarters, however, significant infrastructural changes also remain into account. The urgently needed renovation of the Munich Olympic Stadium has delayed, the main cause is the poor building fabric and asbestos. The official start of the blocking has been announced for October, with an expected reopening in the summer of 2028. The complete renovation should be completed in April 2029.

The modernization of the Grünwald stadium, which has been at the heart of 1860 Munich since returning to the urban stadium, is in the shadow of the Olympic Stadium. As Liga3-online.de reports, the team received a positive building preliminary decision for the conversion of the Grünwald stadium two years ago, but the concrete measures stalled. A move from 1860 to the Olympic Stadium could therefore be a long time until the completion in 2028.

planned conversions and views

The modernization plans for the Grünwald stadium, with a planned capacity expansion from 15,000 to around 18,000 places, will be presented to the city council on March 30. A roofing of all places and the construction of a VIP area are also planned, the costs for the renovation measures to be estimated at 60 to 70 million euros. However, the renovation of the Olympic Stadium, which is expected to take by 2025/2026

In this context, the outcome of the next game against Unterhaching on Saturday is just as exciting as the longer -term perspectives for the 1960 Munich stadium. It remains to be seen whether the team can master the league challenges. The lions are sporty and infrastructural an important year.
