Max Deisenroth: New cathedral organist in the Fulda Cathedral from September 2025!

Max Deisenroth will be the new cathedral organist in the Fulda Cathedral in September 2025. The 35-year-old from Nidderau in the Main-Kinzig district succeeds Hans-Jürgen Kaiser, who retired in October 2024 after 35 years. Deisenroth currently works as a regional cantor in the diocese of Aachen and as a cantor in St. Lukas in Düren. He also heads the parish school in Düren.

His musical training includes a bachelor's and master's degree in Catholic church music as well as organ improvisation at the University of Music in Freiburg. There he was taught by renowned teachers such as Prof. Matthias Maierhofer and Prof. Zsigmond Szathmáry. In June 2021 Deisenroth, a concert exam in organ improvisation "with award" at the University of the Arts in Berlin.

awards and competitions

Deisenroth was awarded the Deutschlandstipendium in 2016/17 and received a scholarship from Albertus Magnus and Hildegardis Association in 2018. In addition, he was a winner at the Cologne competition for organ improvisation 2021. Previously, Deisenroth was a cantor of the parish of St. Raphael in Karlsruhe and university organist in Freiburg.

In his new role as a cathedral organist, Deisenroth plans to focus on organ improvisation, both in liturgy and in his concerts. This could also be related to his experience from the concert series in the Rottenburg Cathedral, in which he will take part in August 2025.
