On February 11, 2025, employees of the main customs office Aachen in Wassenberg-Rothenbach controlled a vehicle from the Netherlands. During this inspection, the officers discovered almost 2900 grams of amphetamine, a synthetic substance that stimulates the central nervous system. The driver, a 24-year-old Dutch citizen, tried to flee at excessive speed. The customs officers took up the persecution and finally stopped the vehicle.
At the subsequent search of the driver, the officials found 1,840 euros cash and two smartphones. It is believed that the driver has thrown drugs out of the window while fleeing. On the escape route, three packages with a white substance were found, the content of which was identified as 2,880 grams of amphetamine in the context of a Drugwipe test. The street sales value of this drug find is estimated at around 29,000 euros.
