New Year's Eve 2024: Fire series in the Heinsberg district causes excitement!

On New Year's Eve 2024/2025, the fire brigades in the Aachen, Düren and Heinsberg region recorded a variety of missions. In the Heinsberg district, there were three larger fires that took several hours. A roof truss fire in Übach-Palenberg, which was probably triggered by the remains of fireworks, was particularly outstanding. A family had to be evacuated from their home, but was able to leave the house in good time without injured. The fire brigade used around 70 emergency services to control the fire until 4:50 a.m. The affected house is currently uninhabitable, and the family found accommodation at night.

In total, there were 24 fire brigade operations in the Heinsberg district, which were rated as normal operations. Another fire occurred in Heinsberg-Waldenrath in a large company hall, where the criminal police are now determining whether there is a connection to New Year's Eve. The inserts also include burning trash can, trees and hedges, the remains of which are often due to the use of fireworks. In the district of Düren, the overall balance was calmer and was mainly limited to burning trash cans.

missions by the police

New Year's Eve not only demanded its toll in the Heinsberg region. Throughout Germany, at least five people died in Böller accidents that night, such as epoch times reported. Among the victims was a 24-year-old from Geseke and two men from Saxony who died in Oschatz and Hartha. A 20-year-old in Hamburg died after a self-made firecracker exploded.

around 330 people were arrested in Berlin, with 13 police officers being injured, including one. This injury is said to have been caused by an illegal fireworks. Despite the arrests, there were no major violent acts in the firecrackers of Berlin. A major fire in Kreuzberg, Berlin, affected a former parking garage, where luckily no injuries were to be complained about.
