Full closure of the A1 in Leverkusen: Stammfahrfahr on the Easter weekend!

In North Rhine-Westphalia, the A1 motorway is fully blocked in the night of April 25th to April 26, 2025. This measure ensures considerable traffic disruptions, especially between the Leverkusen-West and Leverkusen motorway junctions. The blocking begins on Friday at 10 p.m. and is to last until Saturday at 10 a.m., which many travelers could face challenges during Easter holiday traffic. According to Ruhr24 are also affected, in particular the A59 in NRW.

For road users who are traveling towards Dortmund, a detour is set up. From the Leverkusen-West cross, this leads via the A59 towards Düsseldorf, further via the Düsseldorf-Süd triangle and the A46 towards Wuppertal to the Wuppertal-Nord triangle, where the A1 can be reached again. Vehicles that drive to Cologne or Koblenz are led to the Leverkusen-West cross and then led back to the A1 via the A59 to the Leverkusen-Rheindorf junction. In addition, road users in Leverkusen-Wiesdorf have to use a detour via the urban network to the A3 connection point Leverkusen Center.

Details on the traffic situation in NRW

The ongoing blocking in North Rhine -Westphalia is part of a major problem with frequent dust formations and delays on the motorways of the most populous federal state in Germany. 24rhein emphasizes that especially during the Easter break that lasts from April 11th to 27th is to be expected. The A1 and other main roads such as the A3, A57 and A61 are affected.

In addition to the A1, the A45 will also remain completely closed to Lüdenscheid due to necessary renovation work until the end of 2026. Other construction sites, such as the full closure of the A52 near Kaarst towards the Netherlands, will start from April 30 and will also ensure significant detours. The A544 near Aachen and the A565 near Bonn are also affected due to extensive construction sites.

In Leverkusen, the authorities show that for better navigation, diversions by signs with the names U2 and U11 are signposted. Despite the full closures, however, the driveway to the A59 in Düsseldorf and the A1 towards Koblenz in Leverkusen-Wiesdorf remains completely open.

The situation requires increased mindfulness and planning of alternative routes to avoid traffic jams and delays. If you want to travel through NRW in the coming time, you should regularly find out about the current traffic conditions and react flexibly to the diversion.
