Large construction site Brockhäger Straße: Derirance and patience required!

The city of Gütersloh is standing in front of a large -scale construction site on Brockhäger Straße. As the Haller Kreisblatt begins in mid-March 2025 and will transform the road into a large construction site for about 16 months. The work is urgently necessary because the road is heavily loaded with an average of 13,000 vehicles per day and has numerous damage, including considerable gear grooves, holes and a damaged channel system.

In this context, the section between the B61 and the Körner-/Haegestrasse becomes a direction in the city. Drivers who want to drive around in the city have to adapt to alternative routes that are signposted accordingly. The turning lane from Brockhäger into Haegestrasse, which is expected to be completely blocked for four weeks, is also particularly affected.

diversions and traffic disruptions

The city administration warns of massive traffic delays that can also affect the detour routes. Drivers can use the following detours:

  • from Halle in the direction of Rheda-Wiedenbrück or Bielefeld: from Niehorst via Münsterlandstrasse.
  • from Rheda-Wiedenbrück in the direction of Halle: About B513 (Marienfelder Straße), Klosterstraße and Anton-Bessmann-Ring.
  • from Bielefeld towards Halle: also via Münsterlandstrasse.

cyclists can pass the construction site via a bypass along the B61 bridge at Brinkstrasse. In addition, Georgstrasse remains open to cyclists, while local shops in the area remain accessible. For pedestrians, especially students, special crossing aids are set up to ensure safety during the construction work.

costs and measures

The total costs for the renovation of the street and channel amount to around three million euros, of which the country pays one million euros. This renovation not only includes the surface covering, but also the exchange of old supply lines. Proactive measures on the part of the city contain information containers on the construction site that should inform residents and traders about the construction project.

In addition, the cycle path along Brockhäger Straße is also being renovated. According to Gueterloh.de , the affected section will be approx. Work begins on November 6, 2024 and should take a month. Here, too, diversions for drivers and cyclists are signposted.

With these comprehensive measures, the city wants to improve the security and performance of the infrastructure and counteract the increasing traffic loads. The importance of the renovation also becomes clear in the nationwide context, since many cities, such as Bremen, have to face similar challenges in order to make their traffic infrastructure future-proof, as described in
