Wasserbail youth in action: SC Neustadt wants to triumph against strong opponents!

Last weekend, the water polo juniors of SC Neustadt went on an intensive journey to the U18 Bundesliga B Group, which she led to Brandenburg and Dresden. The team competed against the ASC Brandenburg on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., followed by another match on Sunday at 10 a.m. against Leipzig. The journey took place by train, with a departure on Saturday morning at 7:40 a.m. and a change in Berlin. The goal was to be in the swimming pool at least two hours before the kick -off in order to be able to prepare optimally. Coach Peter Jacqué described the trip as a "ox tour" due to the long train journey and the term.

The return trip to Dresden was also time -critical because the team had to leave again on Saturday at 6:05 p.m. Jacqué showed understanding for the stress factors that the young players had through the long trips and the early games due to their journey. Players also have to call themselves early on Sunday morning, which is a challenge, especially for young people.

upcoming challenges and expectations

In the U18 Bundesliga, the opponents of SC Neustadt have achieved two wins and two defeats in the season so far. In contrast, the team from Neustadt had three home wins, including a significant victory against ASC Duisburg. The training during the Christmas holidays was suboptimal because many players were traveling and goalkeeper Joona Vagts only returned on Thursday after two weeks of absence.

The current injury situation is also worrying: Hendrik Seiberth will be longer due to a shoulder injury, and Leon Köppl is also not operational. The new access of Yarema Fryndag (born 2008), which is seen as future reinforcements, is a positive rectou. Jacqué therefore hopes for a lively participation in the training sessions on Monday and Wednesday to optimize the preparation of the game.

The current season and the league

The U18 Bundesliga, which started on November 3, 2024, comprises a total of 14 teams this season. This league is divided into two groups, with the division of the groups based on forecast playing strengths. New in the league are the ASC Brandenburg, which will compete as a debutant, and the SC DHfK Leipzig. The Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 and WSW Rostock are no longer represented.

The group division stipulates that SC Neustadt plays in the B group, in which the ASC Duisburg, SV Blau-Weiß Bochum and other teams are also located. The defending champion is the OSC Potsdam, which has been successful in the past two years and is considered particularly strong this season.

The performance of SC Neustadt remains to be seen, but the team hopes to successfully master the challenges by the new opponents and the long trips. The regional league opponents represent an exciting challenge, and the outcome of the games will be crucial for the further development of the team.
