Construction work on the light rail tunnel: closure and replacement traffic from December!

Stadtwerke Bonn (SWB) have announced that they will check and modernize parts of the light rail tunnel. As part of this work, replacement traffic for the section between "Central Station" and "Olof-Palme-Allee" will be set up from December 27th. This replacement traffic will commute up to and including January 5 between the central bus station (ZOB) by Busseig B3 and the Olof-Palme-Allee and replaces the train lines 16, 63, 66 and 68 in this section.

The necessary blocks are due to the tunnel check and the renovation measures at the “Juridicum” stop. A special company will remove asbestos containing asbestos and ceiling cladding at this stop. The affected area is separated and a lock is set up for the workers to avoid health risks. According to Stadtwerke Bonn, however, there is no danger for passengers, as on gaa.de

rail-international maintenance measures

Deutsche Bahn started a comprehensive “general renovation” of important routes. This initiative aims to achieve extensive improvements instead of constant small repairs. From July 15, the Riedbahn line between Mannheim and Frankfurt will be closed for five months. This route is the first of a total of 41 routes to be modernized by 2031.

The affected routes also include Hamburg - Berlin and Oberhausen - Emmerich. Passengers have to expect longer travel times and train failures. In addition, the ICE speed route between Cologne and Frankfurt and mid-August is closed due to construction work, but not as part of the general renovation. Investments in the Riedbahn renewal are currently to be 1.3 billion euros, with the aim of reducing 80 percent disorders in the infrastructure and in the following five years they no longer have larger construction sites, such as Deutschlandfunk.de reported.
