Bernie Gelhausen: Bonn's cult record shop and his music icons!

Bernie Gelhausen, a formative member of the Bonn music scene and operator of the record shop Mr. Music, is known for his extraordinary music skills and passionate recommendations. Gelhausen, which is often referred to as personalized music lexicon, has an infallible instinct for music that is estimated far beyond the borders of Bonn. His selection includes both insider tips and immortal classics, which are presented to the public under the “Music of the Day” label. Even today, via social media, he shares his treasures and advice with the world.

The recent recommendations from Gelhausen include the new album "Wardour Street" of the British rock band Quireboys, which is considered a nostalgic review and a celebration of rock 'n' roll. The plate is characterized as a love letter to rock culture, which tells stories from nightly adventures. The outstanding guitar work by Luke Morley, which convinces with a successful mix of acoustic sounds and solos, is particularly emphasized.

emotional sounds and historical reviews

A highlight of the album is the song "Raining Whiskey", which includes collaboration with the late Scottish singer Frankie Miller. This song, which was created years ago, fell under the table in the original release of another album before it now shines in new splendor. Miller, who had not taken up an aneurysm in 1994, had originally sent a demo of the song to Spike, the front man of the Quireboys, to use it on his solo album. The new recording was mixed by Nick Brine, who also worked on the new album.

Spike describes the emergence of the new album as both heartbreaking and amazing, and Guy Bailey, the late guitarist, is also dedicated. "Raining Whiskey" will be published on June 21 as a double-a-sides single together with the title "Jeez Louise", the latter was already digitally available last October. The full album "Wardour Street" will be released on September 13 via Cadiz Music and is already in the pre -order.

The comeback of the vinyl sound panels

The return of the record has become more important in recent years, with more and more people who discover the charm of the analog format. The trend is so strong that a special record store week in Germany takes place from October 15th to 20th, 2025. This event aims to celebrate independent record stores and offers exclusive events and limited vinyl editions in various shops.

For new vinyl newbies, recommended albums are also listed, which should not be missing in any collection. Among the tops is the compilation album "ABBA-ABBA" as well as classics of bands like The Beatles and Queen. The list not only shows the variety of music history, but also how deeply rooted the vinyl format in cultural memory remains.

The quireboys also plan live shows that take place in the summer of 2025 and in November, which further increases the anticipation of the publication of "Wardour Street". The return to the roots of rock music is celebrated by Gelhausen and fans alike and promises an exciting year for the music lovers.
