Bonn celebrates honorary citizens Dr. Hans Daniels: A life for the city!

The city of Bonn has the 90th birthday of Dr. Hans Daniels celebrated with a festive drink and dinner. As part of the celebration, Mayor Katja Dörner presented a check for 500 euros to Ulrike Veermann, CEO of the Bonn Lighthouse association. Dr. Daniels had previously asked for donations instead of gifts.

dr. Hans Daniels, who served as a volunteer mayor of Bonn from 1975 to 1994, played a crucial role in the development of the city, especially in times of political challenges. His most important projects include the expansion of local public transport, the creation of the museum mile and the development of the Rheinauen. After the capital decision of 1991, he set essential accents as part of the negotiations on the Bonn/Berlin Act and the associated compensation agreements.

In her laudation, Mayor Dörner praised the courage and the foresight of Dr. Daniels, who was born in Düsseldorf in 1934 and took off his high school diploma at the Beethovengymnasium in Bonn. He studied mathematics, economics and law and did her doctorate in 1957. 1962 he settled in Bonn and began his political career in the Bonn city council in 1961. Daniels was a member of the state parliament from 1970 to 1983 and was a member of the Bundestag, as well as a member of the Council of Elders.

The celebration is not the first honor that Dr. Hans Daniels was given. So he was recognized on the occasion of his 85th birthday. At that time, Mayor Ashok Sridharan presented the dedication certificate in a festive framework in the old town hall. In 2020, a Crimean Lindle was planted at the playground on Kirschallee in Poppelsdorf, which also symbolizes its services. A badge of a boulder has reminded of this dedication since then.

dr. Daniels is praised for his remarkable commitment in Bonn's further development as a former federal capital, which has significantly shaped the city and its infrastructure. Under his leadership, a large number of projects were realized that still make Bonn a cultural and economic center.
