Bottrop eagle overwhelm competition at U20 championships!

On January 26, 2025, the North Rhine-Hein Championships of the Youth U20 took place in Leverkusen. The Bottrop athletes, represented by a small but powerful team of the LC Adler Bottrop, celebrated remarkable success. Particularly noteworthy is the performance of Justus Behne, who improved his personal best to 22.66 seconds over 200 meters and thus fulfilled the individual standard for the German Championships U20. His twin brother Constantin Runde rounded off the successful appearance by taking 7th place in the 60-meter final with a personal best time of 7.24 seconds.

Another highlight of the championships was the 4 × 200 meter relay, in which the Behne twins together with Justus Maltese, Till Beckmann and Niklas Meller reached the standard for the German U20 championships with a time of 1: 32.73 minutes. Amely Schöps, the Bottroper Adler athlete, represented the team in the triple jump of the U18 and landed at 9.02 meters, but this remained below her best. Patrick Schwager took part in the 800 and 1,500 meters and occupied times of 2: 17.85 minutes and 4: 39.14 minutes, also remained under his registered best.

outlook on the German Championships

The good performance confirmed the participation of several athletes in the upcoming German championships. Justus Behne will compete over 200 meters on February 15 and 16, 2025 in Dortmund. The 4 × 200-meter relay also secures its start in the Dortmund. Silke Behne has qualified over 60 and 200 meters for the DM Masters, which will take place on March 1 and 2, 2025 in Frankfurt. Patrick Schwager will also run over the 800 and 1,500 meters in Frankfurt.

pre-fight for the LVN team competitions

In parallel to the U20 championships, the LC Adler Bottrop organized a pre-fight for the LVN team competitions of the male and female youth U14 in the Jahnstadion. In this competition format, the athletes of the LC Adler showed impressive achievements. The male U14 team automatically qualified for the final in Bonn after the KSV Kevelaer could not compete due to injury failures. Here Paulo Bianchi set up a city record in the M13 over 60 meters of hurdles. Fynn Wallfang was the fastest sprinter over 75 meters with 10.01 seconds.

also the female U14 team, which was reinforced by three W11 athletes due to injuries by some athletes, achieved some personal best. Marla Filipiak ran the 75 meters in 11.37 seconds, while Ava Kischkel took 3: 02.96 minutes over 800 meters. The team completed the competition with a total of 5,220 points, which as a 9th place they qualified via the LVN ranking for the final in Bonn.

Overall, it can be seen that the athletes of the LC Adler Bottrop are in a strong form and prove great potential at both regional and national level. The upcoming championships offer an excellent opportunity to demonstrate this and further expand the services.
