Young votes for Europe: Agenda workshop in Bonn on April 28th!

On April 28, 2025, an event will take place in Bonn that wants to bring the voice of young people into European politics. The European Commission and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation will organize the event under the title "Agenda for a stronger and some Europe". This initiative is part of the EU youth strategy, which has been in force since 2019 and aims to give youth in Europe a crucial role in political decision-making processes. The target group of the event are young people from schools in Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg district.

The agenda, which is developed as part of the event, is intended to define priorities of the European Union in various areas. The political issues that are discussed include climate and energy, artificial intelligence, competitiveness, migration, democracy, digitization, education and health. The concept stipulates that the results of an interactive Worldcafé session, which takes place from 2:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., serve as the basis for a public panel discussion. The ideas and expectations of young people are addressed to European politics.

EU youth strategy and European goals

The EU youth strategy based on a resolution of the Council on November 26, 2018 pursues the goal of promoting cooperation in youth policy within the EU. The strategy is valid from 2019 to 2027 and focuses on the three core areas: participation, encounter and qualification. It was developed in dialogue with young people, with tens of thousands of young people brought their opinions and ideas in 2017 and 2018. These feedback led to the wording of 11 European youth goals.

The EU youth strategy is a framework that should not only support the participation of young people in democratic life, but also promote their social and civic Engagement. All young people should be given the opportunity to actively contribute to society. This includes participating in dialogues with political managers and being able to get involved in nationwide and Europe -wide events.

event details and moderation

The event in Bonn begins with a greeting and introduction that addresses the expectations of young people to European policy. Dr. Stefan Lock, the head of the European Commission's regional representative in Bonn, will hold the key note. Table moderators will design the presentations, while a selection of three panelists - Valerie Henschel, Carolin Mues and Vanessa Vohs - will discuss on the podium. The moderation takes over Elke Tonscheidt, a freelance journalist and coach.

Registration for the event ends on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. (CEST). The event offers young people a valuable platform where they can contribute their perspectives and demands on European politics and actively participate in the design of a future -oriented agenda for Europe.

With the motto of the last German EU Council Presidency "Europe for Youth. Youth for Europe", the importance of this initiative is underlined. The European Community sees the participation of youth in political processes a leading role in the future development of the Union and its Member States.
