Experience climate protection up close: exhibition and promotions in Bonn!

On March 26, 2025, a new exhibition on the Bonn climate plan was opened in House of Nature in Bonn. The focus is on the future image "Klimaviertel Beuel-Mitte", which shows a realutopical representation of the Konrad-Adenauer-Platz and its surroundings. The exhibition is accessible free of charge by June 29, 2025 and is aimed at everyone interested.

On March 30, 2025, the third climate action day will take place in the House of Nature. On this day, various information stands and promotions are offered for all age groups from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Particularly noteworthy are the free forest tours at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and the "future workshops" for school classes from the region. These events should promote awareness of climate protection and sustainable development.

The Bonn Klimaplan 2035

The Bonn climate plan, which was decided by the city council in March 2023, defines concrete goals and development paths to achieve climate neutrality by 2035. An essential part of the plan is the “Working Program Climate Protection” of the city administration, which comprises a large number of measures for a climate -friendly city. The participation procedure "Bonn4future - We for the Climate" was initiated by the Bonn association and supported by the city administration. This procedure is the most extensive participation process in Bonn and integrates the results of the climate gate, which took place on November 17, 2022 in the old town hall.

The Action Plan for Climate Protection includes a total of 36 individual plans that are distributed over seven topics, including mobility, living and agriculture. These plans aim to transform Bonn into a climate -neutral city and rely on educational campaigns and the training of multipliers for climate -neutral living. According to Mayor Katja Dörner, the commitment of the citizens is crucial for the achievement of the climate goals.

sustainable urban development and construction methods

In the context of urban development, the topic of climate -friendly construction is becoming increasingly important. German development cooperation emphasizes the need to rethink ideas about new buildings and renovations. Current construction methods based on cement, steel and glass endanger the goals of the Paris climate agreement. A rethink is necessary to reduce the energy consumption of buildings by up to 50 % by 2050.

Germany therefore promotes local, low -emission building materials and the recycling of building materials in order to create living space worth living. In particular, protection against the effects of climate change, such as floods and heat islands, requires innovative approaches. Natural-based solutions, such as designed green and water areas or the sponge city concept, improve both the city climate and the quality of life of the citizens: inside.

In view of the challenge to achieve the climate goals, annual investments in sustainable infrastructure of 4.5 to $ 5.4 trillion are required. Germany is actively involved in international alliances to support cities in these adjustments and to attribute nature to urban spaces, in line with the "Generation Restoration" project of the UNEP.

The developments in Bonn and the projects and plans based on them show the city's commitment to a sustainable and livable urban area in which all citizens will benefit from the future changes.
